Hermann Tertsch del Valle-Lersundi is a member of the European Parliament for the VOX
Political Party list. He is Vice President of the Patriots for Europe (PfE) parliamentary group.
Tertsch has spent his entire professional career as a political journalist and in 2019 was the
first time he ran for elections.

Journalist born in Madrid in 1958 to an Austrian father and a Spanish mother, he is one of the
references of the media in matters of national and international politics. Coming from the
family journalistic company, the economic bulletin Spanish Economic News Service, began
its journey in agency journalism in 1982 in the Vienna delegation of the EFE Agency, which
covered all the capitals of the then Warsaw Pact beyond the Iron Curtain.

In 1985 he joined the newspaper El País in its international section, where months later he
was appointed the newspaper's correspondent in Bonn and Warsaw, covering the fall of all
the communist regimes in Central and Eastern Europe and the explosion of the conflict in the
Balkans. End of 1993 he was appointed deputy editor of the newspaper El País and head of
the Ed-Op section. He was in charge of editorial comments and external contributions for the
largest newspaper in Spain during for three years. From 1997 to 2007, he was special
correspondent for this newspaper and travelled extensively in Europe, South and Central
America, Middle East and Asia. In 2007 he left El País due to political disagreements.

Few months later, he was hired as a columnist and analyst for the newspaper ABC for which
he frequently travelled for coverage of foreign relevant events and interviews. For two years,
he combined this work with the post as director and editor of the late night news show
“Diario de la Noche” at Telemadrid, which became a political reference for the Spanish
conservatives. After ceding the direction he continued with his political analysis editorials on
the television station. He has worked as analyst, talk show fellow and commentator with all
the main radio and television stations in Spain from SER, COPE, RNE, OndaCero to
EsRadio, from CNN+, Tele5, Antena3, TVE to foreign stations.
He is author of several books, some essays, like "La Venganza de la historia”, ”Libelo contra
la secta" and “Días de ira” and some novels as "La Acuarela" and "Cita en Varsovia”.
Dedicated with special attention to the cultural battle against Marxism and globalism and
promoter of an anti-communist front against the Sao Paulo Forum and the Puebla Group,
Tertsch has been appointed President of the Editorial Board of the Gaceta, the foundation's
newspaper.

He has given lectures throughout Europe. He has received numerous awards, among them the
Cirilo Rodríguez, the Continent Prize for Journalism, the International Press Club Prize and
the Europe Prize for Journalism of the European Parliament. He was awarded the Medals of
the State Prize of Merit of the Austrian Republic and the Golden Cross of Merit of the State
of Hungary.
